It’s only fitting that the Sunshine State would have jaw-dropping sunsets. Thanks to its prime location on the west coast of Florida, Sarasota is known for having especially gorgeous ones. Whether you’re pursuing the theatrics of an urban sunset, want the peace and seclusion of watching the day end among nature, or you’re looking for something even more private, you have your selection of some of the area’s best spots when you want to watch twilight fall.

Siesta Beach

Plenty of paddle boarders and kayakers get a front row seat to this natural phenomenon. Rent one from the local shops at Siesta Beach, then head around Sarasota’s natural areas that showcase everything from the beauty of the dunes to the serenity of the ocean. It’s all leading up to the moment when you get to view the gorgeous sunsets from the privacy of nature. The beach here is great to watch the sun set as well. Pick a spot on the sugary white sand and enjoy the magic.

Rooftop Bar and Eats

For the more metropolitan, the drama of the sun setting over the city skyline can’t be beat. Rooftop Bar and Eats has been raved over by diners and culture auteurs alike. It’s easy to see why – when you’re served freshly made cocktails and tapas with a sunset backdrop worthy of an Instagram feed, it’s hard to not fall in love. Keep your phone camera out to film the sun slipping under the city’s horizon.

John Ringling Causeway

If there’s such thing as a bridge with a history, it’s the John Ringling Causeway Bridge. It’s actually the third John Ringling Causeway Bridge to exist, with the original serving as a gift from John Ringling to the city of Sarasota. It’s the gift that keeps on giving today, with its phenomenal views of the city at its crest, its purpose as a path for runners, bikers, and walkers, and its purpose in directly connecting residents to Siesta Key. Its height makes it a fabtastic spot to catch a sunset, with the boats below helping to set the scene.

It’s impossible to leave Sarasota without catching a view of the sunset. This artistic town is made to showcase the evening glow, whether from a rooftop bar, from the beach, or from one of the tallest spots in town. Soon to be added to the ranks of sunset viewing spaces is a residential tower as beautiful as it is functional. Its interiors are made to showcase the outside view, with expansive terraces and large windows in the great room. The best of these sunset watching spots combine a private view with the space of an upscale terrace area. Coming soon to Sarasota, BLVD Sarasota includes features designed to heighten your sunset watching experience, such as balconies and multiple windows. This may be the best view of them all – and all to yourself.

If you ask anyone where the best spot in Sarasota is, they’ll each have a different answer. The city is split into many diverse neighborhoods, making it easy to explore a new part of town, experience a change of pace, or find something really rare and unique. Whether you like the hometown atmosphere of Gillespie Park or the upscale living at Laurel Park, you can find your favorite lifestyle in Sarasota.

Gillespie Park

The one word that best describes Gillespie Park is ‘community’. Made from the combined efforts of individuals and civic groups, this neighborhood features a popular butterfly garden and a great children’s playground. Make sure to take furry friends by The Canine Club for some fresh air, or visit the Historic Downtown Village Shops for quaint architecture and unique art finds.

Siesta Key

If you’re looking for the perfect Florida beaches to share with family and friends, look no further than the white sand beaches of Siesta Key. Highly regarded for its award-winning beaches, TripAdvisor once again announced Siesta Key Beach as Number 2 on its ‘Top 10 Beaches in the U.S.’ list, and Dr. Beach has announced Siesta Key Beach as their number one beach of 2017. It’s a great place to watch porpoises frolicking in the Gulf of Mexico or get in a morning workout on the beach. Once you’re done soaking up the sun, head to Siesta Village for Bonjour, a French café that makes a great espresso, or check out Created Gems for a locally made piece of jewelry.

Laurel Park

Laurel Park represents a way of life that was thought to be long gone. In this neighborhood, you’re surrounded by oak trees dripping with Spanish moss and buildings dating to the beginning of the 20th century. The residents of this neighborhood are so committed to the preservation of their historic buildings, that many of them are listed in the Laurel Park National Register Historic District. The shopping here is unparalleled, with eagle-eyed shoppers having found everything from high-end designer brands to vintage items from the 1900s and onwards in stores such as The Exchange and Asparagus.

Rosemary District

This neighborhood is the heart of Sarasota’s arts and culture scene. Its vibrant history, dating back to the first residents of the area, has drawn in artists and art purveyors of all kinds. You’ll often find them at the Florida Studio Theatre or at the Art Center Sarasota. Although, no matter where you turn, you’re sure to find something creative!

There are big things ahead for the Rosemary District. The area’s bayfront has been recently approved for redevelopment and will serve as the home for a future entertainment complex – ‘The Bay’. The recently approved plans intend to create a new social centerpiece to serve as the heart of Sarasota’s waterfront arts and entertainment district. Another future development, the Quay Sarasota, will offer dining and shopping immediately across the street from BLVD in the Rosemary District.

Also located in the Rosemary District BLVD Sarasota has become one of the areas’ most desirable new address. Construction is now well underway and homes will range from 3,550 to 5,500 sq. feet. Start at $1.9 million, each home will enjoy panoramic city and/or bay views. Residents are accommodated with an unprecedented array of amenities, ranging from a zero-horizon rooftop pool that overlooks the city and the bay to a large temperature-controlled wine vault with private lockable showcases. On the fifth floor, this dog-friendly home has a BLVD pet lawn as well as a grooming station for your four-legged friend.

Right around the corner, residents can enjoy Sarasota’s world-class entertainment, museums, art galleries, and restaurants. Not only that, world-renowned chef Sean Murphy recently announced his new restaurant that will be located on the first floor of BLVD Sarasota. It is no wonder why residences are nearly halfway sold out.

With its fine, white sand and clear waters, Sarasota’s Siesta Beach on the Gulf of Mexico attracts beach-lovers from around the world. A true tropical getaway and the reason many call the area home, this year-round beach topped Dr. Beach’s 27th annual top 10 list of US beaches, released Thursday.

Dr. Beach, aka Florida International University professor Stephen P. Leatherman, issues his annual review of 650 US coastal beaches on the basis of 50 criteria, including water and sand quality, beach safety, environmental management and no-smoking policies.
Including the first-place Siesta Beach, Florida had the most beaches listed with three.

“Siesta Beach has clear, warm waters ideal for swimming.  The beach is hundreds of yards wide in the shape of a crescent due to anchoring of onshore rocks to the south.  This beach is great for volleyball and other types of recreational fitness,” Said Dr. Beach

Since first claiming the No. 1 spot in 2011, Sarasota County has invested more than $21 million to renovate the amenities offered at the beach. These include additional free parking spaces, wheelchair access to the beach, a playground, extended picnic areas and more.

For those who can’t stay away from this impeccable beach, there is a new addition to that tradition of Sarasota excellence that will allow you to visit Siesta Beach any time you want! Just a short drive from the shores of the Gulf, located in the heart of the Rosemary District, is BLVD Sarasota, downtown’s newest and most impressive address.
