It’s starting to become a very common sight. i-Ride Sarasota, operated by Gotcha Ride, is a free shuttle service carrying people in a colorful electric car all around downtown Sarasota including the Rosemary District.

i-Ride Sarasota features seven six-seat electric shuttles, including one that’s equipped for the disabled and they are dog friendly. A cruise around in one of these low speed electric cars is very smooth and comfortable and it gives you some nice views of the city along the way.

The cars drive guests to an area within a 2 1/2 mile radius of the downtown area seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and starting at 8 a.m. on Saturdays. The boundaries are 14th Street to the north, Mound Street to the south, School Avenue to the east and the bay front to the west. The city is contributing around $340,000 dollars for the two-year test run.

The i-Ride is just the latest convenience to explore to vibrant downtown culture of Sarasota. Many local business, restaurants and real estate developers have been eyeing the downtown’s renaissance as a great location to move into to. Core Development recently announced their project BLVD Sarasota, an 18 story tower with 49 luxury residences in the heart of the Rosemary District.
