Sarasota is a city of people who love the outdoors. Whether you’re seeking to swim and sun atop the rooftop pool at BLVD Sarasota, or hoping to get some sun and shopping in at Lido Key, nearly any spot that you choose to enjoy within Sarasota is the perfect spot to soak up the sunshine. Check out some of our favorites below.

Siesta Key Beach

While Siesta Key boasts three beaches that are open to the public, it’s the main Siesta Key Beach that garners the most attention. It’s remained a staple in Sarasota for years for a reason – it’s powder white sand, and turquoise waters are what dreams are made of. No wonder Dr. Stephen Leatherman, aka Dr. Beach, has rated it the number one more than once on his annual list of Top 10 Beaches in America.

Lido Key’s City Island

City Island serves as the ultimate staycation destination for the residents of Sarasota. It’s home to the expansive Mote Marine Laboratory Aquarium and the Ski-A-Rees water ski show, but the big attraction is the beach. Here, you can take out the boat and enjoy swimming and sunning the day away.

Beer Can Island

Out of all that Sarasota has to offer, Beer Can Island can be considered the locals’ best-kept secret. As a natural extension from Lido Key, Beer Can Island has gentle waves and warm waters to swim in, and a whole island to explore.

Lido Beach

Those who head to Lido Key’s main beach are enveloped in an energetic environment, full of people and activities, including yoga classes and play areas. When you’re done enjoying the beach, visit St. Armand’s Circle just nearby to enjoy the luxury shopping and dining.

Rooftop Pool at BLVD Sarasota

Sitting atop 18 stories in the heart of the new downtown, the rooftop pool at BLVD Sarasota offers residents and guests a place to relax and unwind – with fantastic views of the Sarasota Bay and the city below. Complete with an outdoor kitchen, cabana spaces, and fire pits, the pool will create the ultimate experience for residents and guests.

There are many reasons to love calling Sarasota home. For those who are “staying at home” here, it’s a pretty great place to be stuck. Located just south of Tampa on Florida’s charming Gulf Coast, Sarasota is a dynamic town that’s equally historic and eclectic as it is modern. Continually named one of the most desirable places to live in the U.S. by U.S. News and World Report, this area proves an irresistible destination for those who might be looking to relocate. Check out this list below of five reasons why Sarasota is always a great place to live:

1. Beautiful Beaches
Although Florida has many of the finest beaches in the county, Sarasota’s sugary white sands and pristine blue water prove to be some of the best in the world. Siesta Key, Lido Key, and Longboat Key Beaches are among the most popular – and beautiful – in Sarasota. While they remain closed for now due to social distancing, they’re just minutes away for locals when things are back to normal. What a welcome back!

2. World-Class Dining
Packed with so many award-winning restaurants, Sarasota’s dining scene is dynamic and impressive. In fact, Sarasota has the highest concentration of Zagat-rated restaurants in all of Florida. Since dining rooms are temporarily closed, many of these award-winning establishments are offering take out and delivery during this time. How great is it to be able to enjoy world-class meals delivered right to your door?

3. Arts and Culture
Art and Culture serve as the heart of Sarasota. The area is home to world-class visual and performing art venues including The Sarasota Ballet, The John and Mable Ringling Museum, the Sarasota Opera House and the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. With so many world-acclaimed museums, art galleries, orchestras, operas, ballets, and live music scenes, there’s no place that’s creative and inspiring like Sarasota.

4. Parks and Wildlife
Nestled in the beautiful nature of Florida’s Gulf Coast, Sarasota is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts who like to spend time amongst nature and wildlife. It a great place now for people to maintain social distance, but still be able to get some fresh air.

5. Local Events
While we are sheltering in place to protect friends and neighbors, Sarasota is also looking forward to getting back to its regular schedule of weekly events. When the time is right, you can choose between golfing, boating, fishing, dining, the theatre, and so much more. You’ll also want to put the weekly downtown farmers’ market on your list of after-quarantine activities for fresh fruits and vegetables as well as handmade soaps, seafood, coffee, and baked goods.

When life returns to normal, the world may look a little different. Are you in the right place? Maybe you might be ready to call Sarasota home. With so many reasons to love living here, the opportunity to own a home and live close to all the best Sarasota has to offer is truly unparalleled.

Sarasota, Florida has been called ‘The Cradle of Golf’. Players from across the globe gather to play here and improve their skills in clinics and classes. As the area has grown and evolved, so has how the game is played, with new tools and techniques come out all the time. In the cradle of the golf world, a new way to practice, no matter the season or the time, has been developed as well. A lack of time and location is no longer an excuse with BLVD Sarasota’s virtual golf simulator.

As one of the more recent technologies, a virtual golf course opens up all kinds of avenues for the intrepid player. A screen projects an image of a golf course, and players control their swing with a club. Players hit the ball into the screen, and a specially made computer reads details such as the power of the swing and the force of the ball to show how far the hit would go. Special programs can identify to players where their weak points are, how they can improve, and other helpful details.

An indoor golf simulator provides plenty of benefits for the golf aficionado. For the player who won’t quit, an indoor range allows them to keep swinging and keep practicing. These exclusive features are a boon to many players, which is why BLVD Sarasota is proud to claim an indoor golf simulator among their collection of amenities.

This is just one of the many ways that those who live here can enjoy staying active. With a fully equipped fitness center, a pet area and grooming, rooftop pool and other features, members can enjoy one of the most beloved things to do in Sarasota all day, no matter what it is.

When you think of keys, the first thing that comes to mind are the small, eclectic, vibrant islands that lie to the far south of Florida. What you may not know is that Sarasota hosts its own selection of keys, just to the west of the town. As one of the most popular things to do in Sarasota, each one is different in their own way, and each one offers the residents of Sarasota a quick way to escape the rush of life and enjoy solitude within nature.

Siesta Key

Siesta Key hides a great lifestyle, and one of the best beaches that you’ve ever seen! Don’t take our word for it: Dr. Stephen Leatherman, aka Dr. Beach, named it 2017’s best beach! The quiet, charming locals of Siesta Key aren’t just proud of the designation, too – they work to make it as unique and colorful as they are! From drum circles on the beach to sunrise yoga, Siesta Key is full of exciting things to do in Sarasota.

Lido Key

Want the gorgeous beaches of Siesta Key, but hoping to relax a little more seculded in nature’s beauty? Lido Key is the place to be! You won’t find as active of an event calendar to stick to here, so just stretch out on the white sands of North Lido Beach, snorkel and spot wildlife along the shores of Lido Beach, or grab lunch from Tommy Bahama’s. This place is truly paradise found.

Longboat Key

As the playground of Sarasota’s elite, Longboat Key lives up to the standards. Far enough out to be secluded, but close enough to only be a short drive to downtown, you won’t find anything else like this key. When you’re done exploring Anna Maria Public Beach, head to Coquina Beach for their farmer’s market. There isn’t fresher produce or sweeter honey anywhere else!

Both the island lifestyle and upscale city living are never far away from town. With so many things to do in Sarasota, the town is designed so that residents can either be sunning and walking on the shores or shopping high-end stores within minutes. Residential areas are designed like this as well. One in particular offers everything that you need.

There are big things ahead for the Rosemary District. A future development titled ‘The Bay’ is working to deliver live entertainment, outdoor activities, and a gorgeously designed social center right to the Rosemary District’s doorstep. Another future development titled The Quay will serve to fill a need for shops and entertainments within the Rosemary District’s area. It’s a great way for small businesses to promote themselves while also empowering Sarasota’s economy. The best possible thing on the horizon for Sarasota is BLVD Sarasota.

Sarasota, located on the west coast of Florida, naturally draws people in, thanks to its beautiful beaches, its amazing history in art and design, and its spectacular social scene. Whether you’re searching for the contemporary style of Louie’s Modern or want the artsy-casual of Station 400, you’re more than well equipped for the best brunch ever here in Sarasota.

Louie’s Modern

This restaurant has secured its spot as Sarasota’s specialty restaurant for high end eats. Louie’s Market Brunches are known for their bounty of food and wide selection that’s made to satisfy the most discerning gourmand. Intrepid types will enjoy the Seafood Display, topped high with snow crab legs and shrimp cocktails, while more classic diners will love the house made French toast and fresh fruit.

Lolita Tartine

Lolita Tartine has been the gathering spot for Sarasota’s art world, thanks to its approach to modern French design and modern French cooking. The building’s bright color scheme and cozy dining area gives the sense of a café in Provence, with the menu reflecting high-end Parisian restaurants. When the city’s creators need a pick me up or a whole breakfast plate to start their morning, they head here. No one can turn down spinach, feta, and walnut crepes alongside café au lait and fluffy eggs served alongside croissants.

Station 400

If there’s any one spot that’s a tribute to Sarasota’s endless creativity, it’s Station 400. Diners get a sense of this when they first enter the restaurant, where the staff will tell them of the building’s origins as a train station. Station 400 keeps its predecessors architecture, offering a combination of old and new that plays out right on their menu. Aficionados crave the cinnamon roll pancakes topped with vanilla bean maple syrup, while the truffle eggs benedict is nothing to pass up as well.

There are endless ways to have fun in Sarasota, and brunch is just the start. From shopping to art galleries to outdoor activities, there’s always something new and exciting here. BLVD Sarasota, a 49-residence luxury condominium project, is currently under construction in the heart of the New Downtown Sarasota, located on the southeast corner of Boulevard of the Arts and Tamiami Trail. It has brought an exciting energy to the city’s vibrant downtown arts district that Sarasota has never seen before, with the new Bay and Quay projects right around the corner.

Floor plans suit every kind of lifestyle, with plans that feature up to 3,900 sq. feet. Starting at 1.9 million, each plan has three bedrooms and up to four and a half bathrooms. From each residence’s terrace, views of the Rosemary District, Sarasota Bay, and the city skyline fill the area. Expansive windows in the great room invite the view into your home, expertly styled with influences from the Modern school of design.

Sarasota is so full of things to do that you won’t want to miss a thing. From art shows to music festivals to dining events – it’s no wonder why everyone sees this west coast city as Florida’s Cultural Coast. Whether you’re getting up early for paddleboard yoga or catching a little caffeine to stay awake for a late night performance, you’ll need your coffee fix for sure. Sarasota is full of great cafes and brewers that range from the casual to the culinary, and it’s worth trying them all. We picked three to get you started.

Pastry Art Bakery Café

This café likes to position itself as ‘Sarasota’s Living Room’, and that just may be so. When you step in to grab your morning joe, you’ll find everyone from businessmen to freelance artists raving over the amazing coffee here. The baristas at PABC will brew up a variety of cups from lattes to frappuccinos, with flavor mix-ins if you ask for them. If you order one of their lattes, make sure to get your phone out to grab a photo of their signature latte art. Whatever you order, make sure to grab a blueberry muffin or Danish pastry with it. After all, they don’t have the Pastry Chef, Assistant Pastry Chef, and bakers in the back for nothing.

The Green Bean Coffee House

Both health nuts and coffee lovers can find a happy medium in The Green Bean Coffee House. Their business model involves ensuring that they’re able to give back to the community in everything that they do, and they do it well. The staff here prides themselves on working with local farmers and small businesses to create the items on their menu, from the homemade ice cream to the caramel hot chocolate. Local artists, yoga studios, and homeopathic oil experts also host their creations on the walls and at live events here.

The Toasted Mango Café Deluxe

More of a sit-down restaurant than a coffee shop, the Toasted Mango Café Deluxe is still a great place to grab some coffee, whether early in the morning or late in the evening. Grab a friend after a morning run for a Breakfast Banana Split topped with mangoes (what else?), or enjoy having a table to yourself and a book to read over a Sarasota Omelet and some bacon. Of course, their coffee is served with a smile, too!

One of the best parts of Sarasota is how close everything is. That means that the majority of the city is close enough to walk from place to place so you won’t have to miss a thing. Head from yoga at Siesta Key Beach to an artist’s talk at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, or end a visit from the Dr. Joseph Halton House with a walk to The Toasted Mango Café Deluxe. When you’re done for the day, head home to Sarasota’s most exciting luxury residence tower.

It’s no surprise that the residents of Sarasota have a deep appreciation for art and culture. The city’s history has been influenced by true artisans, from the minimalist styles of Chelsea Dunbar to the sharp aesthetics of Sarasota Modern that was forged by the likes of Castner & Castner. Sarasota has evolved to be somewhat of a destination for creatives in interior design of all styles and schools. Three, in particular, stand out on Sarasota’s social scene for their impact on the area’s design, both past and present.

Chelsea Dunbar

The first thing that stands out when you view one of the layouts from Dunbar’s designers is how she applies minimalist aesthetics to her floor plans. Utilizing pops of darker colors in a light room is one of her favorite tricks – it grants depth to an area, allowing them to make a room seem even bigger. Another is utilizing the color scheme of the area outside of the residence. The work that her interior design group, Blu Interiors, has recently done brings in the blues, taupes, and creams of the waterfront, the land, and the sky outside. Dunbar and her designs have even appeared on HGTV’s Property Brothers on multiple occasions.

Castner & Castner

Founded in 1979, this father and son duo have been taking on the Manatee County area by storm with both their unique furniture offerings and their luxurious approach to style and design. Flipping through their look book, you’ll find a combination of everything from mod to French countryside, with a touch of British Isles-type design. Their secret lies in being a local staple for years. This has allowed them to really learn about their customer, their likes and dislikes, their approach to color and design, and what their principal aesthetics. When your buyer is your neighbor, it’s easier to create something beautiful for them!

Kurt Lucas

Known for his incorporation of pops of color into bold contemporary designs, Lucas has cut a prominent figure in Sarasota’s interior design scene. As the president of JKL Design Group, he certainly should. Many of Sarasota’s finest keep an eye on what Lucas takes interest in regarding aesthetics, as it’s sure to take on Sarasota’s scene in a few months. His pioneering approach to shape and color is what makes him perfect for some of Sarasota’s most daring new projects.

You can find Lucas’ mark on some of Sarasota’s most prominent buildings, from the industrial-meets-contemporary style of Dry Dock Waterfront Grill to the coastal design that dominates Summer House Steak & Seafood. One place that exhibits Lucas’ tastes like nowhere else is the new luxury residence center on the edge of Sarasota’s trendy downtown: BLVD Sarasota. A clean white exterior shells an interior that’s crafted with natural color palettes and designer details. Those attuned to the intricacies of interior design would notice features such as marble, quartz, and granite countertop options for the bathrooms, and expansive windows that reach from floor to ceiling in the living rooms.

New Development in Sarasota

Head to Sarasota’s downtown area, and within minutes, you’ll be surrounded by art, boutique stores, and unique dining experiences.  That’s how you know that you’re in the Rosemary District. In 1884, a land surveyor named Lewis Colson arrived with coworkers from the Florida Mortgage and Investment Company to what would later become Sarasota and collected vital data. Come 1885, Colson decided that he liked the area so much that he would live there. What came after that was a cultural renaissance, forged by the art, music, and dance of the locals.

The eclectic downtown district is where chefs show off their skills with wide-ranging ingredients, where artists show off their skills with splashes of color, and the waterfront sparkles with the light of the sun. But what skyrocketed this distinct downtown to the top of everyone’s ‘to visit’ list has to do with the district’s history.

Redevelopment of the Rosemary District began with the Rosemary District Plan, which restructured the area into a mostly residential zone. The addition of shops and restaurants, combined with the creation of residential housing in an area known for its artistic and cultural offerings has brought many people to the area. Even today, the Rosemary District continues to evolve, replacing worn-out fixtures with modern ones, revitalizing historical buildings, and adding new luxury residential offerings such as BLVD Sarasota.

The most exciting new addition will be quite dramatic. The Bay, located directly on Sarasota Bay adjacent to the Van Wezel performing arts center, will be one of the finest outdoor parks and recreational complexes in the country. The Bay will serve as Sarasota’s social centerpiece incorporating a variety of activities for the entire family.   Festivals and concerts will be held at the outdoor amphitheater continuing the city’s legacy of arts and entertainment. Couples can set out for a romantic night on the town dock their boat at The Bay. Head to the Municipal Auditorium and the Art Center Sarasota or to the highly acclaimed restaurants that dominate the Rosemary District. The Bay is not the only big thing coming to the area.   Keep your eye out for the new Quay Sarasota–an upcoming shopping, residence, business, and lifestyle center located adjacent to the new Westin Sarasota.

Even more exciting, BLVD Sarasota, with just 49 luxury condominiums, is currently under construction leading the renaissance of the area. It has brought an exciting energy to the city’s vibrant downtown arts district that Sarasota has never seen before, with the new Bay and Quay projects right around the corner.

The benefits of owning a luxury maintenance-free condominium in the heart of Sarasota are numerous. You’re close to the vibrant arts and culture of the area. You’re only a short bicycle ride or walk to the best beaches in the Florida, and you are surrounded with infinite places to dine, shop and be entertained.  When doing your research for potential new home options, here’s a few things to be sure to check on.

Walkable Location

Don’t underestimate this aspect of your lifestyle. Being able to leave the car at home and walk to your destination makes it easy to live a healthier and happier lifestyle. How close is the coffee shop in the morning?  Can we walk to dinner? Are there great places to jog or workout along the waterfront? Also check the location of the MURT trail too.  Being connected to St. Armands Circle, Lido Key and other popular destinations are a bonus thanks to this amazing trail system.

New Developments in the Area

While Sarasota is already a great place to live, the renaissance of the waterfront and the addition of new and exciting projects are changing the face of the downtown region.  The Rosemary District in particular will benefit from the new shops, restaurants and entertainment at The Quay which is adjacent to the new Sarasota Westin. One look from the rooftop bar to the north, and you’ll see the future of Sarasota. BLVD Sarasota, a new luxury condominium, is now under construction and will include a street-level dining experience. The Bay, an upcoming outdoor entertainment area was just approved, and features a waterfront amphitheater, new modern piers for visiting vessels, and a kayak launch. As an entertainment center, The Bay will work to provide the residents of Sarasota with even more ways to enjoy themselves in Florida’s Cultural Coast.

Modern Features

Luxury features enhance the atmosphere of a spacious living space. While ‘atmosphere’ may be a broad term, it’s something that you’ll recognize immediately. It will be reflected in the flooring, space utilization and kitchen design. Keep an eye out for high end finishes and top-rated appliances, as well as countertops made with natural stone aesthetics and the efficiency of granite or quartz. Purchase early in the construction timeline if you wish to insert your design aesthetics into the space. Personalization options disappear once the contractor starts the interior finishes of each residence, often even before the building is half-way constructed.

Resort-Style Amenities

Newer buildings have raised the bar on standard amenities for new homebuyers.  Just consider this….at BLVD Sarasota, residents will enjoy a rooftop, zero-horizon pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center and a residence gathering space. But the community really separates itself with its ground floor, upscale restaurant, high-tech golf simulator with indoor driving range, and temperature controlled wine with private lockable showcases. There’s even a convenient 5th floor dog walking lawn and dog grooming facility so you don’t have to leave the building.  BVLD’s social room also includes a grand piano, pool table, game areas—even a bar and service kitchen for private events.

The most important thing to keep in mind is to be aware of how well the building location fits with your lifestyle. BLVD Sarasota, a 49-residence luxury condominium is currently under construction in the heart of the New Downtown Sarasota, located on the southeast corner of Boulevard of the Arts and Tamiami Trail. It is surrounded by the  exciting energy of the city’s vibrant downtown arts district that Sarasota has never seen before, with the new Bay and Quay projects right around the corner.

BLVD Sarasota exhibits stunning architecture with panoramic views. The residences range from 3,550 to 5,500 sq. feet and start at $1.9 million. Located in the diverse Rosemary District, just around the corner from the new bayside projects – it is no wonder why BLVD Sarasota is nearly 50% sold out.

Due to construction progress, our new sales studio is now open, featuring your in-person virtual reality experience at 1266 1st Street, Suite 5, Sarasota. There’s something about the holidays in Florida that makes them feel even more special. Maybe it’s the cute quirkiness of seeing a palm tree in holiday lights. Maybe it’s hearing holiday music everywhere that you go, with a little steel drum mixed in. Maybe it’s that an average day is 75 degrees, with not a cloud or a snowdrift- in sight. Those are plenty of reasons to take advantage of all of the events happening this time of year. You’re sure to find something that you can enjoy.

Holiday Splendor at the Ringling

The holidays are a special time of year, and the Ringling has its own aesthetically eclectic way of celebrating. This year, it’s inviting everyone for a special holiday celebration. Come December 6th, you can enjoy extended hours at The Circus Museum, the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, and Ca’ d’Zan for their Holiday Splendor event. Enjoy live music and entertainment from the local elementary, middle, and high schools, food and beverages, and craft your own museum experience as you partake in a self-guided tour through the collections and galleries. To support the U.S. Marines Corps Reserve Toys for Tots collection, admission is free with one unwrapped toy.

Anna Maria Island Privateers Christmas Parade

The Anna Maria Island Privateers Christmas Parade was established in 1984 when a holiday event was unable to happen. Thanks to the ingenuity of a few members of local youth support nonprofit, the Anna Maria Island Privateers. They whipped up their own holiday parade to the delight of hundreds of kids. They managed to not only save the day, but also established a tradition that would be followed 48 years later. The event starts at 10 A.M. on December 8th in Bayfront Park, and follows a trail all the way to Coquina Beach. Along the way, spectators will get to see boats and floats decorated for the season and supported by local businesses and organizations. Once the privateers land at Coquina Beach, it’s time to hand out toys to all the kids there, as well as free sodas and hot dogs!
