The Sarasota area is known, among other things, for its extraordinary culinary scene. And now, the area’s newest and most impressive luxury condominium tower is proud to announce a new addition to the dynamic dining experience offered here. BLVD Sarasota, slated for move-in this Spring, is excited to be the home of Sean Murphy’s next restaurant. A renowned leader of the culinary world, Murphy’s famed Beach Bistro has garnered a reputation as one of the best.

The sister restaurant to the Beach Bistro will be located on the first floor of BLVD Sarasota. “BLVD will be the exciting new entrance to downtown Sarasota. We’ll have a perfect location, right at the front door to everything Sarasota offers,” Murphy said. The atmosphere of the new restaurant will be warm, welcoming and luxurious, with a uniquely Bistro feel.

The new restaurant at BLVD Sarasota will replicate Beach Bistro’s popular menu amplified by imaginative culinary creations and offer a truly unforgettable dining experience for every palate. The cuisine will feature fresh seafood from the Gulf of Mexico, high-quality domestic meat selections from Florida ranches and prime offerings from the nation’s best ranchlands, all selected by Murphy himself. Sean’s new Bistro will also offer a full bar experience featuring creative cocktails from his new Island “Doctor’s Office” craft cocktail bar and an extensive wine list. Patrons will also have the option of custom personal storage in the bistro’s spectacular “Wine Attic.”

Not only will residents of BLVD Sarasota enjoy uninhibited access to one of the most impressive dining establishments in all of Florida, but they will be privy to in-residence culinary experience brought to their door, dining room or terrace. Room service is an understatement as an actual full course-by-course white tablecloth, wine, and cocktail service will be available for residents and their guests.

The most exciting part? BLVD Sarasota and the new restaurant here are just about complete! These 49 condominiums offer a landmark lifestyle and are scheduled for move-in this Spring. The spacious designs offer some of the largest floor plans in Downtown Sarasota. Starting from $1.9 million, residences here range in size from 3,550 sf. to 3,900 sf.

A future development titled ‘The Bay’ is working to deliver live entertainment, outdoor activities, and a gorgeously designed social center-right to the Rosemary District’s doorstep. Another future development titled The Quay Sarasota will serve to fill a need for shops and entertainments within the Rosemary District’s area.

Here in Sarasota, history co-exists side by side with modern-day buildings and technologies. More than just eye-catching landmarks, these historical buildings and parks are noted for having had an important role in Sarasota’s past. Check out what you can learn at these amazing places…

Ca’ D’Zan

John Ringling was the owner of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus that dominated the cultural sphere in the early 20th century, especially in Sarasota. His wife, Mable, curated the iconic imagery that makes up the galleries of the Ringling museum network. Partially because John would have his performers spend winters in Florida, partially because the Ringlings were so charmed by Sarasota’s nature and warm weather, they decided to make the town their permanent home by building a mansion unrivalled in beauty and architecture. With John’s funds and Mable’s eye for art and design, they built Ca’ D’Zan, a monument to the circus that afforded them their lifestyle and the aesthetics that they loved. Today, Ca’ D’Zan is a gathering place for all kinds, where galas are held, speaker sessions are attended and audiences of all kinds marvel at the mansion’s beauty.

Sarasota Classic Car Museum

There’s a certain level of depth that one must appreciate when attending the Sarasota Classic Car Museum. On one level, it is a comprehensive collection of automobiles, ranging from the 1908 Rambler to the 2010 Spyker C8 Laviolette. It also serves as a social center, where musicians play live to audiences at special events. And it’s not just the cars that make this museum so valuable – it’s also a symbol of Sarasota’s economic strength. From its inception in 1953, the Sarasota Classic Car Museum was one of Sarasota’s most popular museums. While a lofty designation, this fact is especially important for the museum’s role in Sarasota’s ‘museum boom’. In the 50s, the town was full of museums, hoping to draw in tourists from across the nation. While many came and went, the Sarasota Classic Car Museum outlasted them with its service and dedication to history.

Crocker Memorial Church

Crocker Memorial Church stands as a testament to one man’s determination in bringing a church to Sarasota. In 1903, a Civil War veteran named Peter Crocker finished construction on the church that he hoped to bring to the residents of Sarasota. Today, the Crocker Memorial Church is a perfect example of turn-of-the-century cracker architecture. When attending one of the many shows and musicals held within its walls, observe the frame made from wood, its simple construction, and the additions made by the Bay Haven Baptist Church when they took over the building in 1926.

Historic Spanish Point

There really isn’t anything like Historic Spanish Point. Described as an outdoor archaeological and historic museum, the park’s location encompasses physical landmarks of Sarasota’s history. Attend a tour that showcases the ways that the Native Americans of the area lived, and even see some of their landmarks. Walkthrough the buildings of early settlers and learn how people such as John and Eliza Webb braved the untamed land of Early Florida to establish a homestead, and later forward Sarasota’s development. Even the plants here helped affect the flow of history, from providing food and shelter to directing the flow and purification of water, as attendees will learn on the plant tour.

Sarasota Jungle Gardens

Only minutes from downtown Sarasota and BLVD Sarasota, the Sarasota Jungle Gardens are one of the easiest ways for locals to access area history. As a relic of Sarasota’s tourism boom from the 40’s to the 50’s, the Sarasota Jungle Gardens combines an older approach with a modern touch. As the name indicates, the gardens showcase exotic animals from across the world alongside tropical flora of all kinds. Having animals wasn’t in the original plans of David Breed Lindsay and Pearson Conrad when they first began work on the gardens in the ‘30s. They had envisioned the landscape to be more of a botanical garden. However, as the attraction changed hands, its offerings changed as well. Tourists were amazed – not only could they witness the gardens’ famous flamingoes, they could also see species of plant life that they never saw before, such as strangler fig vines and Florida’s famed bald cypress trees.

Many of these amazing locations have shaped Sarasota’s culture through time. Be a part of Sarasota’s history with BLVD Sarasota, the luxury tower coming to downtown Sarasota.

Sip-N-Cruise Cycles

Whether by land or by sea, Sip-N-Cruise cycles can take riders there. On the company’s boats, guests are asked to peddle the cycles on the seats to move the paddlewheel that propels the watercraft forward. Cycleboats take patrons to areas such as sandbars that locals populate to dolphin watching along the waters of Sarasota, drive past famous landmarks, and see the city’s art and culture up close.

Epic Equine Experiences

Horseback riding has been an important part of Florida’s culture for a long time. The staff at Epic Equine Experiences helps honor this longstanding tradition with scenic rides around trails in locales such as Myakka River State Park and T.Mabry Carlton Jr. Memorial Reserve. Tours can be modified for riders’ level of comfort and experience, and follow a comfortable schedule. Through their guided tours, riders can see Florida, as it was hundreds of years ago.

What is it exactly that moves people to move to Florida? The idea of spending a winter enjoying temperatures at a balmy 72 degrees appeals to many. But Florida’s financial benefits, such as the lack of state tax and a new amendment, are highly regarded by homebuyers as well.

No State Tax

It’s well known that Florida doesn’t apply a state tax – which entices many. Not only is Florida one of the few states that doesn’t apply an income tax, it also reaffirms this in its state Constitution, under Article VII. Furthermore, the State of Florida doesn’t tax residents and citizens’ incomes under the Florida Income and Inheritance Taxes amendment.

New Condominium Deductions

While homestead exemptions don’t apply to condominiums, Floridian lawmakers have found a way to save those who own them on their taxes through Florida Amendment 2. It helps to preserve a portion of the ‘Save Our Homes’ Amendment that allows for a cap on tax increases up to 10%. It passed in 2018.

The Perfect Price Point

Florida homebuyers are constantly in search of a condominium that’s affordable, stylish, and in a great location. And Sarasota is the place. The artful atmosphere that the area possesses bleeds into the living spaces here, ensuring that homebuyers have a variety to choose from. Despite its amenities and its amazing space alongside the Sarasota Bay, BLVD Sarasota residences start at $1.9 million.

Sarasota, Florida has been called ‘The Cradle of Golf’. Players from across the globe gather to play here and improve their skills in clinics and classes. As the area has grown and evolved, so has how the game is played, with new tools and techniques come out all the time. In the cradle of the golf world, a new way to practice, no matter the season or the time, has been developed as well. A lack of time and location is no longer an excuse with BLVD Sarasota’s virtual golf simulator.

As one of the more recent technologies, a virtual golf course opens up all kinds of avenues for the intrepid player. A screen projects an image of a golf course, and players control their swing with a club. Players hit the ball into the screen, and a specially made computer reads details such as the power of the swing and the force of the ball to show how far the hit would go. Special programs can identify to players where their weak points are, how they can improve, and other helpful details.

An indoor golf simulator provides plenty of benefits for the golf aficionado. For the player who won’t quit, an indoor range allows them to keep swinging and keep practicing. These exclusive features are a boon to many players, which is why BLVD Sarasota is proud to claim an indoor golf simulator among their collection of amenities.

Forbes Magazine has recently recognized Sarasota on its list of ‘The Best Places To Retire In 2019’. The magazine itself cited the area’s sunny weather and walkability, along with its fantastic culture and creativity. From its great shopping, dining, and outdoor entertainment, to its intertwined history with one of America’s most renowned circuses, Sarasota stands out.

Check out what Forbes had to say about Sarasota below:

The Best Places to Retire In 2019

Even for the we’ll-do-it-our-way Baby Boom generation, retirement usually means two predictable changes: less income and more freedom to live where you please. That’s why so many folks at least consider moving in retirement and why Forbes’ list of The Best Places To Retire In 2019 highlights 25 locales that offer both affordability and a high quality of life.

Our new roster, our ninth annual such list, contains places in 17 states across all four continental time zones. While they vary dramatically by size, climate and culture, all offer excellent retirement value for the buck. The list is in alphabetical order, meaning we consider all equally worthy

The List:

We compiled our list of the Best Places To Retire In 2019 by amassing and comparing data on nearly 700 places across all 50 states. We sought affordable places (as measured by median home price, cost of living and state taxes) with a high quality of retirement living and populations of 10,000 or more, either in the specific locality or a metro area. We also looked for places with good economic prospects, since that translates into opportunities for retirees who want to work part-time and more likely home price appreciation, should you decide to move again down the road.

When it came to judging quality of life, we considered a range of factors, including doctor availability, serious crime, air quality, walkability, and bike-ability, as well as a community’s ranking on the Milken Institute list of best cities for successful aging. Since this is a retirement list, we ignored data on local school districts. But the presence of colleges was considered a plus, as it tends to mean more cultural and other amenities are available at a reasonable price.

With so much shopping, dining, and entertainment going on within the city, it’s clear that Sarasota is a pretty special place. Other buildings have a restaurant. BLVD Sarasota has THE culinary dining experience.

The Beach Bistro will be creating a sibling located on the first floor of Sarasota’s new landmark building, BLVD Sarasota. Twenty years ago Florida Trend enthroned The Beach Bistro in its Golden Spoon Hall of Fame and continues to laud its presence in that ZAGAT has selected The Beach Bistro for inclusion in its listings of the Top Restaurants in America and awarded The Beach Bistro one of only a handful of 4.9-star ratings in the country.

Not only will residents have direct access to one of the finest dining establishments in all of Florida, but the services and expertise that come with it will be unparalleled in any residence on the Gulf coast. Room service is an understatement as only BLVD Sarasota residents will be privy to an incredible in-residence culinary experience brought to their door, dining room, or terrace.

These dining experiences will not be just “room service” with little pop-up carts, but actual full course-by-course white tablecloth service for you and your guests – wine, cocktails and coursed dining at your beck and call every evening. For larger parties, The Bistro can also provide wait, bar and chef staff for in-home entertaining.

The Bistro’s culinary experience will not only flow into your home, but the Bistro Chef and wine and bar staff will become your neighbors. You will be on a first-name basis with the staff and have access to them for advice and consultation for your own culinary adventures. The Bistro uses only prime American beef, domestic lamb and real Gulf of Mexico shrimp and line-caught seafood, all of which is available to residents by simple ordering.

Of course, residents will also be hosted at the restaurant as intimate neighbors with guaranteed reservation status in the BLVD Sarasota Bistro dining areas and bar. BLVD Sarasota’s Bistro will also be providing car service, transportation and reservation guarantees at her sister Beach Bistro on the island.

The object at the BLVD Bistro will be the creation of a true culinary community for all BLVD residents. Most importantly, there is no added cost to the association fees for these services.

Sean Murphy, the Beach Bistro owner and founder, will be personally available to share our vision of the BLVD Sarasota’s great new culinary neighborhood.

May might mark the end of season in Florida, but for the locals who live in Sarasota and along Lido and Longboat Key, it’s the start of a season that brings in a truly unique visitor. They don’t arrive in a car or on a plane – they swim right up to the shore. They’re sea turtles, and they’re part of what makes living in cities such as Sarasota so amazing. While nesting season takes place from May 1st to October 31st, make sure to follow these rules so that you can coexist with sea turtles.

When sea turtles hatch from their nests, they follow the moon’s light to make their way into the water. Science has shown that sea turtle hatchlings often mistake artificial light sources such as flashlights or street lamps for the light of the moon, and begin to stray towards it. In doing so, they fail to make their way to the ocean. When you limit your use of light sources near the water, you protect sea turtles and ensure that they can thrive in their environment.

While nothing can beat a romantic stroll along the beach with the stars and the moon shining above, reducing the amount of nighttime beach walks that you take or staying only on the sidewalk by the beach prevents you from potentially damaging any turtle nests. If you want to see turtles hatching from their nest late at night, attending one of the turtle walks with the many nature centers throughout the area is a great solution. Not only do you get to witness a turtle laying its eggs in a way that is noninvasive to the animal, you also get to enjoy background context provided by biologists and turtle experts. Some of these walks consist of finding and observing nests that have already been laid while listening to an expert offer information and their experience, while others allow you to observe a sea turtle laying its eggs from a safe distance.

It goes without saying, but when you see a sea turtle nest, make sure to observe from a few yards away. Touching, holding, or playing with a sea turtle is never allowed. Doing the same with turtle eggs can damage them as well. Make sure to keep pets away from sea turtle nests as well.

The beauty and grace of a sea turtle often captures the hearts of all who come across it. In order to further ensure their safety, the State of Florida has taken up laws in order to protect these creatures. It’s why areas throughout the state utilize sea turtle friendly features such as shaded lighting, and why residents love them so much. Here in Sarasota, residents can enjoy the beauty of nature and the luxuries of condominium living.

BLVD Sarasota, one of the most exciting new high rises on the Gulf Coast, is rising quickly and being bought up just as fast, especially since it’s complete up to the 12th floor. Top off is now scheduled for July!

Residences at BLVD Sarasota start at $1.9 million and offer a landmark lifestyle in the heart of Sarasota’s downtown arts & entertainment district. With just 49 residences ranging from 3550sf to 5500sf, these BLVD Sarasota residences will feature large wrap around terraces, soaring ceilings, and a rooftop zero-horizon pool to capture the city views and expansive sights of Sarasota Bay. Spacious designs offer some of the largest floor plans in Downtown Sarasota. Residents also get to enjoy a rooftop zero-horizon pool, a wine cellar to store their favorite vinos, and a pet lawn on the fifth floor to take care of your furry friend with.

BLVD Sarasota residents are always just steps away from Sarasota’s world-class entertainment, museums, art galleries and restaurants. A future development titled ‘The Bay’ is working to deliver live entertainment, outdoor activities, and a gorgeously designed social center right to the Rosemary District’s doorstep. Another future development titled The Quay will serve to fill a need for shops and entertainments within the Rosemary District’s area. It’s a great way for small businesses to promote themselves while also empowering Sarasota’s economy.
