There are several exceptional ways to see historic and beautiful Sarasota. From touring the sprawling Ca’ d’Zan to surveying the panoramic sights from the balcony attached to a residence at BLVD Sarasota, they all capture the city’s beauty. However, some ways to experience the city are simply unique. Whether looking down from the window of a biplane or from the back of a horse, these experiences will grasp all who take them.

Sarasota Biplane Adventures

Get a whole new view on Sarasota – thousands of miles from the ground. Pilots Nathan Smith and Brian King have a combined piloting experience of 40 years, and use their knowledge of the area and of flying to create an unforgettable experience. They take fliers across the Gulf of Mexico, along Sarasota’s beaches, and around the city, all the while offering facts about the town.

Cruisin’ Tikis

For a truly unique and memorable experience, Cruisin’ Tikis is the way to go. A floating tiki hut is piloted by the captain across some of Sarasota’s most famous natural areas, including Sarasota Bay. Make sure to get the camera ready for some amazing photos!

Segway

It’s exciting to explore Sarasota through its pedestrian walkways. Thanks to the parks and trails that fill the city, walkers, runners, and bikers can enjoy exploring the town with ease. That’s what makes it possible for the classic Segway tour to make its way around Sarasota as well. With their variety of tours available, learn of Sarasota’s history, get some great views of Sarasota Bay and the John Ringling Bridge, and enjoy the fresh air, all the while exploring this town’s streets.

Sip-N-Cruise Cycles

Whether by land or by sea, Sip-N-Cruise cycles can take riders there. On the company’s boats, guests are asked to peddle the cycles on the seats to move the paddlewheel that propels the watercraft forward. Cycleboats take patrons to areas such as sandbars that locals populate to dolphin watching along the waters of Sarasota, drive past famous landmarks, and see the city’s art and culture up close.

Epic Equine Experiences

Horseback riding has been an important part of Florida’s culture for a long time. The staff at Epic Equine Experiences helps honor this longstanding tradition with scenic rides around trails in locales such as Myakka River State Park and T.Mabry Carlton Jr. Memorial Reserve. Tours can be modified for riders’ level of comfort and experience, and follow a comfortable schedule. Through their guided tours, riders can see Florida, as it was hundreds of years ago.

Rooftop Pool, BLVD Sarasota

All of the above tours and charters help residents see Sarasota in a new light, but only one experience gives a perspective that can’t be gained anywhere else. After all, when surveying a panoramic view that extends from Sarasota Bay to the city’s downtown from within an infinity pool on top of BLVD Sarasota, an 18 – story residence tower, it’s hard to get that anywhere else. There truly is no lifestyle like the BLVD Sarasota lifestyle.

Another future development titled The Quay will serve to fill a need for shops and entertainment within the Rosemary District area. What is it exactly that moves people to move to Florida? The idea of spending a winter enjoying temperatures at a balmy 72 degrees appeals to many. But Florida’s financial benefits, such as the lack of state tax and a new amendment, are highly regarded by homebuyers as well.

No State Tax

It’s well known that Florida doesn’t apply a state tax – which entices many. Not only is Florida one of the few states that doesn’t apply an income tax, it also reaffirms this in its state Constitution, under Article VII. Furthermore, the State of Florida doesn’t tax residents and citizens’ incomes under the Florida Income and Inheritance Taxes amendment.

New Condominium Deductions

While homestead exemptions don’t apply to condominiums, Floridian lawmakers have found a way to save those who own them on their taxes through Florida Amendment 2. It helps to preserve a portion of the ‘Save Our Homes’ Amendment that allows for a cap on tax increases up to 10%. It passed in 2018.

The Perfect Price Point

Florida homebuyers are constantly in search of a condominium that’s affordable, stylish, and in a great location. And Sarasota is the place. The artful atmosphere that the area possesses bleeds into the living spaces here, ensuring that homebuyers have a variety to choose from. However, out of the many Sarasota condo residences, one stands out from the rest – BLVD Sarasota. It’s location between the Sarasota Bay and the Rosemary District puts future residents between waterfront views and the action and activity of Downtown Sarasota. Amenities such as a rooftop zero horizon swimming pool, a wine cellar with a tasting room, the esteemed Beach Bistro sister restaurant on the first floor of the condominium tower, and a Pet Lawn area only serve to increase the value. Despite its amenities and its amazing space alongside the Sarasota Bay, BLVD Sarasota residences start at $1.9 million.

Florida has plenty of appeal to homebuyers, especially those coming from out of the state. From its beaches to its monetary benefits, there’s plenty of opportunity for future homebuyers here. One of the best opportunities is at BLVD Sarasota, the condominium tower in the middle of it all. Here there are only 49 residences for homebuyers to take advantage of before the move in date in Spring of 2020, and many are already sold. With little inventory available in this market, it’s selling out quickly.

Smartphone audio tours are one of the ways that tourism is becoming more modern, allowing thrill-seekers to discover the city in their way, at their pace. Sarasota is one of the many cities to have been caught up in the scavenger hunt audio tour fever, allowing for its extensive history and artistic culture to be on display for all to enjoy. When listeners download one of these tours, they can catch one of these exciting landmarks on their journey.

Sarasota Bay

A scavenger hunt tour of Sarasota isn’t complete without a visit to Sarasota Bay. Serving as an arrival destination for yachts and charters, an exit port for those hoping to fish the Gulf of Mexico, and a spot for great romantic waterfront views, Sarasota Bay has been drawing residents and visitors since the beginning. End a great night with a visit to O’leary’s Tiki Bar, or stroll to the top of the John Ringling Causeway for views that can’t be beaten.

The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art

With its vibrantly colored street art and artistic flourishes on every building, life in Sarasota can truly be described as a circus, but only of the highest caliber. These are the influences that the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus brought with them when they spent their winters in Sarasota, and you’ll come by them often on your scavenger hunt tour. Owner John Ringling and his wife, Mable, also brought their own aesthetics to town, which can be seen in the gorgeously designed John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art. From Renaissance-era art to contemporary political works, it can all be discovered here.

BLVD Sarasota

While this landmark may not be on your tour itself, it may be hard to miss. Its dramatic silhouette can be seen rising against the sky from nearly every major Sarasota landmark. Amenities such as a private wine cellar for residents to use, a rooftop infinity pool, and a pet care area speak to the tastes of their residents. It even hosts a restaurant on the first floor created by a celebrity chef, where classic American dishes are served in unique takes. Renowned and new. Simple and extravagant. BLVD Sarasota is Sarasota itself.

BLVD Sarasota is now under construction and coming to life quickly. These residences start at $1.9 million and offer a landmark lifestyle in the heart of Sarasota’s downtown arts & entertainment district. Sarasota, Florida has always been a cultural powerhouse. Some would chalk it up to its artistic history that has even involved circus culture, while others claim that it’s the location on the Gulf of Mexico’s coast that draws in artistic types. Either way, this town’s fun and funky vibe means that there are always plenty of things to do in Sarasota. Looking for a night on the town? These are just a few of our favorites.

The Gator Club

In what was once an old historic building lies The Gator Club, Sarasota’s premiere location for live music and great drinks. Spirits from small businesses line the drink cabinets, and live music can range from hip-hop to rock to something indescribable. If you’re looking for one of the best things to do in Sarasota, you’ll want to check this out.

5 O’Clock Club

Open since 1955, this jazzy nightclub has developed a reputation for great music and cute drinks with its clientele. On any given night you can show up and hear the likes of Frankie Lombardi and The Verge play live! That’s not to discredit the drinks or the atmosphere – the wall of top shelf liquor and list of cocktails should prove that.

Pangea Alchemy Lab

It’s hard to find an experience like the one at Pangea Alchemy Lab. What other bar is styled like an Art Deco speakeasy and serves up cocktails in what looks like a mad scientist’s lab? Thrill seekers will love the rush of trying the vegetal, clean Snapea Dragon with sake and snap pea juice, while those who seek out something more classic will appreciate their Chai, with lavender vodka.

It isn’t hard to find unique things to do in Sarasota – after all, they don’t call it the Cultural Capitol for nothing. The only hard thing is staying close enough to make sure that you don’t miss out on all the action.

BLVD Sarasota, one of the most exciting new high rises on the Gulf Coast, is finishing up quickly and being bought up just as fast, especially since it’s topped off!

Sarasota, Florida has been called ‘The Cradle of Golf’. Players from across the globe gather to play here and improve their skills in clinics and classes. As the area has grown and evolved, so has how the game is played, with new tools and techniques come out all the time. In the cradle of the golf world, a new way to practice, no matter the season or the time, has been developed as well. A lack of time and location is no longer an excuse with BLVD Sarasota’s virtual golf simulator.

As one of the more recent technologies, a virtual golf course opens up all kinds of avenues for the intrepid player. A screen projects an image of a golf course, and players control their swing with a club. Players hit the ball into the screen, and a specially made computer reads details such as the power of the swing and the force of the ball to show how far the hit would go. Special programs can identify to players where their weak points are, how they can improve, and other helpful details.

An indoor golf simulator provides plenty of benefits for the golf aficionado. For the player who won’t quit, an indoor range allows them to keep swinging and keep practicing. These exclusive features are a boon to many players, which is why BLVD Sarasota is proud to claim an indoor golf simulator among their collection of amenities.

This is just one of the many ways that those who live here can enjoy staying active. With a fully equipped fitness center, a pet area and grooming, rooftop pool and other features, members can enjoy one of the most beloved things to do in Sarasota all day, no matter what it is.

Forbes Magazine has recently recognized Sarasota on its list of ‘The Best Places To Retire In 2019’. The magazine itself cited the area’s sunny weather and walkability, along with its fantastic culture and creativity. From its great shopping, dining, and outdoor entertainment, to its intertwined history with one of America’s most renowned circuses, Sarasota stands out.

Check out what Forbes had to say about Sarasota below:

The Best Places to Retire In 2019

Even for the we’ll-do-it-our-way Baby Boom generation, retirement usually means two predictable changes: less income and more freedom to live where you please. That’s why so many folks at least consider moving in retirement and why Forbes’ list of The Best Places To Retire In 2019 highlights 25 locales that offer both affordability and a high quality of life.

Our new roster, our ninth annual such list, contains places in 17 states across all four continental time zones. While they vary dramatically by size, climate and culture, all offer excellent retirement value for the buck. The list is in alphabetical order, meaning we consider all equally worthy

The List:

We compiled our list of the Best Places To Retire In 2019 by amassing and comparing data on nearly 700 places across all 50 states. We sought affordable places (as measured by median home price, cost of living and state taxes) with a high quality of retirement living and populations of 10,000 or more, either in the specific locality or a metro area. We also looked for places with good economic prospects, since that translates into opportunities for retirees who want to work part-time and more likely home price appreciation, should you decide to move again down the road.

When it came to judging quality of life, we considered a range of factors, including doctor availability, serious crime, air quality, walkability, and bike-ability, as well as a community’s ranking on the Milken Institute list of best cities for successful aging. Since this is a retirement list, we ignored data on local school districts. But the presence of colleges was considered a plus, as it tends to mean more cultural and other amenities are available at a reasonable price.

With so much shopping, dining, and entertainment going on within the city, it’s clear that Sarasota is a pretty special place. From scallops to sand dollars, Florida owes its diverse collection of shells to the water currents that flow around the state. One current in particular, the Loop Current, flows from the Gulf of Mexico and pushes alongside the West Coast of Florida. This drops off various waterfront treasures on the shores of the West Coast’s beaches, which is why you can find Florida’s best shell beach near Sarasota. It doesn’t take much to learn that the rumors about this historic city’s amazing shelling aren’t just talk. Drop by one of the beaches here any day of the week, walk out a couple feet past the shore, and dip your hand in. You’ll easily pull in a handful of some of the natural treasures mentioned below.

Sand Dollar

The distinctive shape of the sand dollar is recognized across the world, with many going through great efforts to find one in perfect condition. Those who live along the Gulf Coast don’t need to put in any great effort to find one – start looking, you might get lucky. But be careful, look, don’t touch because it is illegal to remove them from their environment.

Olive Shells

It’s hard to miss an olive shell on a Sarasota beach – their shiny surface and unique shape make them stand out like treasure in the sand. Noted for their thin and round design, they’re the home of olive snails, which are the reason why they’re almost always glossy and beautiful. The way that the snail situates itself on its exterior protects its shape and sheen from the forces of nature. Because of this particular form of preservation, olives are often incorporated into jewelry and fashion pieces.

Scallops

If the name of this shell sounds familiar, check your dinner plate – the scallops that you eat come from these guys! People quickly saw the value in their fluted design, which come in all sizes and colors, and came to incorporate them into their decorations and adornments. Seeing them line a Sarasota beach for miles is a sign of the ecosystem’s health – scallops naturally filter out impurities in the water, leaving it beautiful and clean.

It’s no secret that Florida is known for having the best beaches – for years, people have been flocking here in search of sun, sand, surf, and especially shells. It’s also no secret that the people come from all over to explore the best shell beach near Sarasota. And when you’re done, you can come home to amazing interior design features, natural yet modern elements, and amazing panoramic views. You can come home to BLVD Sarasota.

Other buildings have a restaurant. BLVD Sarasota has THE culinary dining experience.

The Beach Bistro will be creating a sibling located on the first floor of Sarasota’s new landmark building, BLVD Sarasota. Twenty years ago Florida Trend enthroned The Beach Bistro in its Golden Spoon Hall of Fame and continues to laud its presence in that ZAGAT has selected The Beach Bistro for inclusion in its listings of the Top Restaurants in America and awarded The Beach Bistro one of only a handful of 4.9-star ratings in the country.

Not only will residents have direct access to one of the finest dining establishments in all of Florida, but the services and expertise that come with it will be unparalleled in any residence on the Gulf coast. Room service is an understatement as only BLVD Sarasota residents will be privy to an incredible in-residence culinary experience brought to their door, dining room, or terrace.

These dining experiences will not be just “room service” with little pop-up carts, but actual full course-by-course white tablecloth service for you and your guests – wine, cocktails and coursed dining at your beck and call every evening. For larger parties, The Bistro can also provide wait, bar and chef staff for in-home entertaining.

The Bistro’s culinary experience will not only flow into your home, but the Bistro Chef and wine and bar staff will become your neighbors. You will be on a first-name basis with the staff and have access to them for advice and consultation for your own culinary adventures. The Bistro uses only prime American beef, domestic lamb and real Gulf of Mexico shrimp and line-caught seafood, all of which is available to residents by simple ordering.

Of course, residents will also be hosted at the restaurant as intimate neighbors with guaranteed reservation status in the BLVD Sarasota Bistro dining areas and bar. BLVD Sarasota’s Bistro will also be providing car service, transportation and reservation guarantees at her sister Beach Bistro on the island.

The object at the BLVD Bistro will be the creation of a true culinary community for all BLVD residents. Most importantly, there is no added cost to the association fees for these services.

Sean Murphy, the Beach Bistro owner and founder, will be personally available to share our vision of the BLVD Sarasota’s great new culinary neighborhood.

There’s no doubt that Sarasota has one of the most influential dining scenes in the region.

Restaurants of all kinds host some of the freshest fish and exquisite flavor combinations that can’t be beaten, or even found outside of Sarasota. Many of these Sarasota dining spots enhance the experience with a waterfront view or even access by boat. When you’re looking for a great atmosphere to go with your entrée, we suggest you try one of these six places to eat to experience the best waterfront dining in Sarasota.

Places to Eat in Sarasota

Ophelia’s On The Bay

In search of Sarasota dining with a romantic atmosphere and a view that can’t be found anywhere else? This restaurant should be on the top of your list. The expansive windows and elegantly decorated outdoor dining area takes full advantage of the Little Sarasota Bay views and watercrafts that dock at this restaurant. Similarly, the chefs here take full advantage of Sarasota’s great fishing. Freshly caught off of Sarasota’s shores, the macadamia and coconut encrusted mahi mahi can’t be beat.

Dry Dock Waterfront Grill

Not as formal as Ophelia’s On the Bay, yet not as casual as most of the entries on this list, Dry Dock Waterfront Grill’s resort casual atmosphere lets you relax in style. Sit outside and let artfully placed fairy lights illuminate your view of the Sarasota Bay. The restaurant’s dock makes this a great place to watch the boats cruise by. Residents here rave about the Florida Grouper Sandwich – try it with a big side of fries and one of the signature cocktails from their list.

Fins at Sharky’s On The Pier

The best way to describe the food here is eclectic. The décor is simple, yet interesting, the menu offers everything from sushi to Chicken Saltimbocca, and the atmosphere is lively and elegant. All of it comes together to present the white sands and cool waters of the Gulf that lie behind the restaurant. The staff is consistently hosting events such as exclusive wine tastings that help diners explore the depths of flavor within their dishes. Do so as well with the Caribbean Cobia and one of their many draft beers, such as the JDUBS Passion Wheat.

New Pass Grill & Bait Shop

This local watering hole may be low frills, but when eating at a restaurant as close to the waterfront as New Pass is, you can be certain that the fish is fresh! The atmosphere is come-as-you-are, which makes it easy to drop by in your watercraft after a long day out on the waterfront and enjoy a shrimp basket or Grouper Bites.

Oleary’s Tiki Bar & Grill

As any traveler knows, one of the best ways to find the greatest restaurants is to follow the locals. If you follow them at Sarasota, you’ll find them at Oleary’s. Known as much for their large cocktails as they are their amazing bayfront views, this cornerstone in Sarasota dining has been beloved by guests and locals since its inception. Live music plays in the afternoon and the evening, which complements your Mahi Reuben excellently. The best part – you can bring your dog! It’s no wonder Oleary’s makes the list for best waterfront dining in Sarasota.

Jack Dusty

No one restaurant holds such an effortless combination of Sarasota’s culture, cuisine, and coast than Jack Dusty does.
